Spotlight: Cambridge Small Businesses I’ve Photographed and Why I Love Working With Them

When I first quit the 9-5 corporate working style to work for myself full time as a creative, I was knew where I wanted to go. I wanted to work with small businesses and entrepreneurs; the family down the street who have been doing their craft for 30+ years, the couple who started a retail store to make themselves happy, the person who loves to make but hates to market their work. Here are some of the local businesses I’ve loved working with in and around Cambridge, and here is why you will love them too! This is just a few of the amazing businesses so stay tuned, I’ll share more in the future!

The Witty & Co

Greg and Simon of The Witty and Co are really the reason to blame for all of you being stuck with me in Cambridge. I stumbled across Galt in 2020 and walked into Simon & Greg’s retail store. Their product was wonderful and there was such a cool variety of unique goods, but what got me was how welcoming the fellas were! Since then, I’ve photographed their anniversary event and social media content for them and every single time we create together, we have such a good laugh! They are the reason I chose to move to Cambridge, the people who sparked my interest in working so closely with the community, and they were actually by first Cambridge blog post feature haha. If you’re looking for food and decor goodies for the home, decor, gifts and vintage finds too, visit The Witty & Co!

Farm League Brewing

My crew!! I’ve been working with Farm League for 3 years now on marketing content for their music festival and occasionally shooting some of their shows (LIKE SHANIA TWINK - SO COOL), and I just love it there! We’ve collaborated on events for Grand River Pride and Cambridge Wedding Week. I started singing there during their open mic nights, and it’s one of my favourite places to stop by for a beer! Their Hauler Lager is one of my all-time favourite craft beers and I love that it’s locally made here in Cambridge by an awesome team! Collin, Mike & Matt and the team are just super kind and community-oriented! Stop by with your friends, enjoy a show, try some delicious beer and see why this space is so inviting and cool to be in!

Molloy's Bulk Refill and Soap Supply

Oh Molloy’s! B.J. and Pete are just really rad humans - so easy to talk to and people you want to be pals with you know? B.J. and I connected when I featured her business for the Downtown Cambridge BIA’s social media and ended up collaborating on photography projects about a year and a bit later! We work together very often, photographing product lines for seasonal launches and creating new imagery for her e-commerce. I personally only have Molloy’s soaps in my home now. They’re eco-friendly and my skin loves them, and you can bring in your glass and have them refilled, saving on waste and your moola!

The Mule - Cambridge

I have made some of the most fun content at The Mule in Cambridge - their team is always down to create and collaborate together! It really makes photography and videography fun when the team is just down for anything and has fun ideas that they bring to the table too! Positive attitudes, wicked senses of humour and just an overall cool bunch of humans to be around! I consider myself quite lucky to be able to go and make content magic with these folk as often as I do! Also, their head office team make my heart happy; always collaborating, cheering each other on! It’s really nice!
